Hair Colors

Why do we call hair by different color names from everything else?

 Your car is black.
 Your shirt is black.
 Your shoes are black.
 Your couch is black.
 Your hair is brunette.

 Your carrots are orange.
 Your oranges are orange.
 Your shirt is orange.
 Your socks are orange.
 Your hair is ginger... or red.

 Your lemons are yellow.
 Your shirt is yellow.
 Your house is yellow.
 Your canary is yellow.
 Your hair is blond (if male) or blonde (if female... because women need an E for some reason).

 Your pants are khaki.
 Your hair is ALSO blond, because apparently, yellow and khaki are the same color on your head.

 Your wine is burgundy.
 Your coat is burgundy.
 Your chair is burgundy.
 Your hair is auburn.... or red again.

 Your house is brown.
 Your coat is brown.
 Your eyes are brown.
 Your hair is...  BROWN!  ..... or brunette again.

Your hair is gray.  Congratulations, your hair is finally a real color, and you're an old fart.
 ... unless you decide to call it "salt and pepper."
